Environmental education provides important opportunities for students to become engaged in real world issues that transcend classroom walls. They can see the relevance of their classroom studies to the complex environmental issues confronting our planet and they can acquire the skills they’ll need to be creative problem solvers and powerful advocates.

As local Nevadan students learn about the Truckee River they become more invested in protecting it as well. 

The Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation, Sierra Nevada Journeys and Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful education programs help students become environmental scientists by working to understand the health of the Truckee River Watershed.

We are grateful to the Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation, Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful and Sierra Nevada Journeys for their full array of incredible programming and for their continued commitment to protecting our Truckee River.

*Please note that numbers for 2020 are reflective of both an increased - and at times decreased - ability to engage students.  Due to the COVID-19 pandemic some of the partners were able to move most of their student education programming online, thus increased reach and engagement. However, in-person educational opportunities obviously diminished during the pandemic. For 2021 and beyond as programming moves back to in-person we expect the number of students engaged to normalize.
