Explore community health data in real-time with our Community Health Dashboard.
Every three years, public health officials conduct intensive research to determine the major health issues and challenges facing our communities, and then compile their findings and analysis into a comprehensive report.
This online dashboard is inspired by that report, called the Community Health Assessment (CHA). The goal is to provide real-time health information and data typically found in the CHA that is up-to-date and relevant for health professionals, community leaders and residents alike.
Public health professionals use the CHA to identify and promote priorities to improve health for all residents. Explore those priorities in the gray box below.

The data and information included in a CHA help to better educate NNPH staff, government officials, and the community about our local health status and needs. It also helps to develop policy and operational priorities, allocate community resources, and plan for action to improve health.

Using the data
Several icons are used within the data sets to help illustrate trends, comparisons and targets. Generally, a green icon means it’s a positive health outcome, while red means it’s a negative health outcome. Up arrows indicate an increased value, while down arrows represent decreasing values.

Community health data has been organized into four sections that include all the data sets from the Community Health Assessment.
Understanding the 2022-2025 CHA
NNPH epidemiologists and public health staff conducted focus groups and surveys, and compiled reliable primary data and research to determine the top eight health issues for the most recent CHA. In 2022 (when this research was completed), mental health rose to the top as the No. 1 issue facing the community.

Methodologies
Explore the methodology used in the 2022-2025 Washoe County Health Assessment. This assessment utilizes validated and reliable secondary data sources, results from an online community survey, focus group participants, input from key informants, as well as an agency survey. Additional data on the website, not used in the assessment, is provided by Conduent Healthy Communities Institute and more information about their data methodologies can be found in the Help Center.
Informing the Community Response
The 2022-2025 Community Health Assessment is used by government officials, health professionals and community members as a tool to develop policy and operational priorities, allocate community resources, and plan for action to improve health across our communities.
The resulting course of action is known as the Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) , which has been broken down into areas for improvement: social determinants of health, mental health, preventative health behaviors, and access to health.
